A new adventure!

Hi all,

This is El restarting the blog on the eve of a new adventure to Kenya. This time I will not be alone!

Pete Rawlinson, Will Talbot and I are heading to Nairobi tomorrow for a two and a half week trip. Last year Bishop Dan asked me to fundraise and organise a camp this summer. It has been a huge undertaking, and it has stretched me already but we can't wait.

We are taking 50 11-14 year olds from Mathare Valley Slum (the worst in Kenya in terms of conditions) for a bible camp near Kisumu. We aim to give them a fun holiday, build them up and show them more of Jesus' love. It won't be just us three though, the majority of the team are from Kenya with many of them knowing the young people already. The site is a temporarily empty orphanage in the countriside of Western Kenya (Maseno).

Many people have been supporting and praying for us in too many ways to count. But we thank God for them all! Many people have asked for an itinerary of what we plan to do and some prayer points. Technology allowing, we shall have internet in Nairobi but probably not much  in Maseno, so we will update where we can.

Prayer requests

  • Praise God the money has arrived in Kenya after some transfer hiccups.
  • Thank God for amazing financial provision. The current budget is about twice what we originally guessed, yet He provided.
  • Safety travelling especially within Kenya and for the coach with the young people.
  • Pete and Will as they adjust to Kenya
  • El in a leadership position, wisdom and handling her new role with grace and wisdom
  • Preparing the hearts of the young people coming, and logistics of ensuring they can come
  • Getting everything we need for camp in Kenya and preparations for talks etc.
  • Blessing on the orphanage and providing things that can last throughout the year for them
  • For unforseen things and wisdom as we deal with them
  • Energy and health!

Many thanks for your support
